I3-4-BIOFERTILIZERS

Innovation investments for biofertilizers and circular bioeconomy solutions for a sustainable agriculture
Innovation investments for biofertilizers and circular bioeconomy solutions for a sustainable agriculture

I3-4-BIOFERTILIZERS project is aimed at promoting interregional cooperation in the bio-fertilizers and circular bioeconomy sectors. By bringing together European leading actors from 8 EU countries and 13 different EU regions, it seeks to support the development of a new transnational value chain in biofertilizers and bioeconomy solutions towards a sustainable agriculture.

The core objective is to upscale, pilot, and demonstrate a portfolio of 8 investment/business cases, each one resulting in innovative bio-fertilizers (including biostimulants) and sustainable agriculture solutions. This action will be accompanied by a cascade funding targeting support to 30 SMEs/ startups addressing existing market and technical barriers in the sector. Along with financial support, we will provide technical, business and innovation advisory support able to support beneficiaries in their projects’ implementation.

service

Moreover, I3-4-BIOFERTILIZERS will provide regional ecosystem stakeholders, and in particular SMEs, with capacity building and investment readiness expertise, along with go-to-market support, knowledge transfer and best practices exchange, from both interregional cooperation, financing and industry perspectives. Also, it will provide access to an interregional collaborative network and living lab for showcasing of innovative production and use of biofertilizers and sustainable practices. To maximize the impact of the action, we will establish an “Excellence Competence Centre on Biofertilizers and Sustainable Agriculture”, creating a permanent hub providing innovation and financial advisory services to SMEs and regions, while fostering interregional cooperation in the sector. This will ultimately lead to improving interregional competitiveness by closing the gap between developed and less developed regions, while paving the way towards new Regional Innovation Valleys on circular and sustainable agriculture.
