EQAVET 4.0

Vocational Education and Training (VET)
Vocational Education and Training (VET)

EQAVET4.0 is a European Erasmus+ initiative strengthening the quality and relevance of vocational education by aligning training programmes with real labour market needs. Through outcome-oriented quality assurance, sectoral mapping, and strong collaboration between education and industry, the project helps VET systems adapt to rapidly evolving skills demands and supports employability, transparency, and mobility across Europe.

Overview

As labour markets evolve at unprecedented speed, vocational education and training systems face growing pressure to keep pace with technological change, emerging job profiles, and shifting skills demands. EQAVET4.0 – Quality in Outcome-Oriented VET was created to respond to this challenge by strengthening the link between education and employment through evidence-based quality assurance.

Co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme under the Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) framework, EQAVET4.0 runs from 2025 to 2029 and brings together 22 partner organisations from nine European countries. The project unites VET providers, industry representatives, chambers of commerce, ministries, and umbrella organisations around a shared goal: ensuring that vocational education delivers outcomes that truly match labour market needs.

At the core of EQAVET4.0 is the development of a VET LOOP — a continuous feedback mechanism that evaluates how effectively VET programmes respond to both the qualitative and quantitative demands of the labour market. By combining sectoral intelligence, clearly defined job profiles, and robust assessment methodologies, the project strengthens transparency, comparability, and trust in VET systems across Europe.

Building on the European Quality Assurance Reference Framework for VET (EQAVET), the initiative enhances the relevance, effectiveness, and attractiveness of vocational education, while supporting employability, adaptability, and lifelong learning in a rapidly changing economy.
