EQAVET 4.0 Magazine Launch: Redefining Quality for the Future of Vocational Education
The EQAVET 4.0 project has released the first issue of its magazine, The EQonomist, marking an important milestone in its mission to modernise quality assurance in vocational education and training (VET) across Europe.
The publication highlights the project’s innovative approach to aligning education systems with rapidly evolving labour market needs, driven by digitalisation and Industry 4.0.
A new vision for quality assurance in VETEQAVET 4.0 builds on the existing European quality assurance framework by introducing a more dynamic, outcome-oriented model. The project aims to ensure that VET systems are not only compliant with standards, but also responsive to real-world demands, focusing on employability, job relevance, and learner satisfaction.
Introducing the VET LOOP methodology
A central concept presented in the magazine is the VET LOOP, a continuous feedback mechanism that connects learners, training providers, and employers.
This model evaluates VET performance based on real outcomes, such as:
- Employment relevance of skills
- Employer satisfaction
- Learner experience and feedback
By integrating these perspectives, the VET LOOP creates a 360-degree evaluation system that continuously feeds into curriculum design and training delivery, ensuring ongoing improvement.
Bridging the gap between education and employment
The EQAVET 4.0 approach is supported by two key tools:
- Sectoral mapping, which provides a clear overview of labour market needs and their alignment with existing training programmes
- Job profiling, which defines the specific skills, competencies, and qualifications required for each role
Together, these tools enhance transparency and help ensure that training provision is closely aligned with labour market demands, enabling learners to transition more effectively into employment.
A strong European partnership
The project is implemented by a consortium of 22 organisations from across Europe, including VET providers, research institutions, public authorities, and industry representatives.
As part of the consortium, BGT Consulting Group contributes to the design of evaluation frameworks, supports the digitalisation of project outputs, and helps ensure alignment between training content, job profiles, and labour market needs.
